“The beginning and Music And Experience” [2012]
In April 2012, Gabriele Carone and Andrea Morganti decided to found NewAir. Since the beginning the two musicians began recording tracks that would appear in their future EP and in June 2012 released their first one named “Music And Experience”.
In the following months, the duo recorded the remaining songs and in November of the same year published “Music And Experience” EP.
“Jam Session Prima & Jam Session Seconda” [2013]
At the beginning of 2013, NewAir decided to try Improvisation, using Jazz as example. In fact the first records are based on a mix between Elettronica, Ambient, Techno, New Age and Noise music. With this kind of experimentation the two musicans released “Jam Session Prima” and “Jam Session Seconda”.
In October of the same year, the duo finished recording their first album, and later, in December signed on with the indipendent German record company suRRism – Phonoethics.
“Prospect Of Life” [2014]
NewAir released their debut album “Prospect Of Life” in February 2014 under the suRRism – Phonoethics label. Following the release of this album, the WFMU radio station from New Jersey broadcast one of the songs of their album: “Emotions”.
In March 2014 the duo partook of the Guntherome Radio Contest, successfully qualifying for the final stage. In the following month, NewAir exhibited during the finals at Radio Cafè, reaching the 4° place. The two musicians concluded their live season with two appearances: first at the Pentatonic Live Club at the end of April, then in May at the Radio Wuonz Live Club.
In July 2014 NewAir ended the recording of their second album and announced its release in 2015.
In November of the same year the duo performed again at the Pentatonic Live Club and later, at Spazio Ebbro and Alvarado Street, they combined their wide ranging melodies with painting throughout collaborative Jam Sessions.
At the end of the period of live shows, in December, the duo organized a live streaming via Ustream. In the same month NewAir signed a record deal with 2419 Record Label.
“Breakfast With: and Human Maze” [2015]
At the beginning of 2015 NewAir released a rework of “Television Rules The Nation” by Daft Punk, while in February they released “Breakfast With:” with the Dutch independent label 2419 Record Label. During the same month NewAir performed on Ustream with a new Jam Session.
Thus began the intense season of live performances, beginning in March at the Caffè Freud, an experiment which combined music with literature, then two event followed in April: first at Foollyk and then with an exhibition at the Barcode in which the duo accompanied a cabaret show.
The month of May has seen NewAir participate in an interview with the Youtube channel Music Station ITA and close the season with a live performance organized by Fanculo Al Dj Set at The Cathedral.
In July 2015, the duo starts to approach the theories of the Venus Project and the Zeitgeist Movement through which the foundations of their future compositions were laid. Meanwhile the portal Gruppi Emergenti publishes an article on the history of the duo in the music scene.
In August NewAir starts the recordings of the future EP and next album.
Having recorded the three first songs “Venus“, “Unitary System” and “Human Maze“, the two musicians signed a deal with the Greek record label Liquid Seed Recordings and releases in November its second EP “Human Maze” which also includes the participation of the artist Rêverie.
In December Radio Q37, during the program Saturday Night Mix, broadcast a Dj Set of the electronic duo that includes the most important tracks from “Music And Experience” EP, “Prospect Of Life“, “Breakfast With” and “Human Maze” EP.
“Venus” [2016]
In January 2016 the new EP was broadcast by different web radios including R1 Dubstep and Akademickie Radio Luz, while the duo concentrated on concluding their new album.
The duo in the months of March and April performed respectively two Live Set at the Pentalfa Club and B-Folk, and two Jam Sessions at Pinispettinati: one in collaboration with a painter and another connecting music and cabaret.
At the end of the month of April, the two musicians signed a record deal with the italian independent label La Stanza Nascosta Records.
May began with the release of the single “Stuck In This Abyss” accompanied by a videoclip published on BlankTV and made by DRC Creativity Production. At the end of the same month the single was aired on 22 italian radios, while the videoclip was broadcast on JBTV, Canale Italia Musica and M2o.
The single “Stuck In This Abyss” was reviewed by some newspapers such as the Sardegna Reporter, BFG Music Group and Blog della Musica.
In June the new album “Venus” was released through La Stanza Nascosta Records and the following month the webzines Rock O’Clock and BFG Music Group published a broad review of the album by the electronic duo.
September began with the release of two reviews about the new album Venus by two webzines: The Re’view Blog and Live Time.
In October, the duo announced its participation in the talent show Le Stelle di Pentalfa in the unpublished group and in the festival Anime di Carta, with two immediate performances in both events respectively at the Pentalfa and Jailbreak. In both exhibitions NewAir passed the preliminary stage.
The month of November continued with two other events at Il Cantine and Locanda Blues, again part of the festival Anime di Carta, which were broadcast via the Ciadd News Radio radio. Subsequently a new album review was released by Comunicati Musicali.
2016 ended with a third place at the Semifinal of the Talent show Le Stelle di Pentalfa out of eight participant bands, and with the publication of two reviews of Venus by two of the most important Italian webzines such as Ritratti di Note and Shiver.
“Re-Venus and Re-Life” [2017]
At the beginning of 2017 the electronic music duo was interviewed by Radio Ciadd News, while in February NewAir organized a subsequent Dj Set on Radio Q37 to present the EP “Re-Venus“: 4 remixes of “Money“, “Venus Pt.2“, “Human Maze” and “BIOS“.
In the following months, the major songs from the third album and some remixes were broadcasted during the Bushwick Garage program on the New York Radio Free Brooklyn, and in daily turns on Radio Campus Lille and NWCZ Radio.
In May the band reached the finals of the Anime di Carta Festival and organized various interviews on some famous roman and international radio stations. The duo took part in the Radio by Night program on Radio Radio, Music Lab on the London Eurobeat Radio and Radio 5 Five. The latter broadcast some excerpts from both “Venus” and “Re-Venus” in July during the program “Made in Italy“.
In September, a new remix EP of the song “Light Life” titled “Re-Life” was released, broadcasted together with “Re-Venus” and “Venus” on Free Underground Tekno Radio, Cannibal Radio and Poplie Radio.
The duo dedicated the final months of 2017 to composing and producing the new EP, while in the same period was rewarded by the Festival Anime di Carta for taking the first place in the “Electronic Duo” category.
“Animae” [2018]
The new year began with a change of members: Francesco Massa took Andrea Morganti’s place in the duo. The two concluded the composition and production of the new EP in February 2018.
Some newspapers and webzines such as Qui news Cecina, Sardegna Reporter, Onda Musicale and Mescalina announced the release of the new single “Oblivion” for March 18th and 44 italian radios broadcasted it. The track saw an important collaboration with the rapper Frabolo and the singer Lisa Luperini.
Oblivion introduced the duo’s new project, which follows the line traced by Dante in the Divine Comedy. Specifically, NewAir sets both the single and the future EP in Hell, bringing the music to the same level as the mood required.
On April the EP “Animae” was released, expressing the usual NewAir electronic style, but well mixed with Rap and Pop.
Both Oblivion and EP Animae quickly entered many playlists on Spotify and some webzines like Re’volver Blog, System Failure and Sound36 positively reviewed the work by defining it as mature.
At the beginning of June the two musicians were interviewed by Radio Rossellini and then an interview was released on the youtube channel I Love Visit Italy – Blog by Tiffany Miller which gave a 360 degree tour of the New Air project and subsequent works.
In September, two new interviews were released with Indie Dischi and La Disillusione and a subsequent one in October on Ciadd News Radio.
Danger of Music, Nonsense Magazine and the One & Only blog closed the year defining the EP as a quality and visionary product. In fact, Danger of Music considered Animae as one of the best 10 albums / EPs of 2018.
“Redemptio” [2019]
2019 begins with the announcement that NewAir becomes solo: Gabriele Carone thus takes on the role of producer, composer and performer of the project, while Francesco Massa remains as co-composer.
At the end of January the single “Taboo” gets released, featuring Frabolo & Oscar Nini. The song, distributed by La Stanza Nascosta Records, obtains a remarkable response and manages to be broadcast on over 60 national radios.
At the beginning of March the new EP “Redemptio” is published, which has Dante’s purgatory as its reference and is based on a Rap-Pop style, with Electropop and Industrial contamination. Some magazines such as Tracks and Weezla review the work, calling it mature and interesting for Italian discography.
In April NewAir is interviewed by Extra Music Magazine and by La Disillusione, in which once again the desire for musical experimentation emerges, yet keeping in mind what can be suitable for the music industry. In the same period, the project goes live once more at the Anime di Carta Festival, performing in venues such as Let It Beer, Boogie Club and Locanda Blues.
During the summer an intense collaboration begins with the band Malcomune, leading to NewAir’s performance as a touring keyboardist for the group at the Alcazar of Rome and at Woodstock in Cantalupo and as an electronic late evening finale at the Campari event in Cassino. Towards the end of summer, the performance that takes place on the Bevere stage, an event organized near the Tiber river, is also important. And the single “Pensavo Peggio” gets released in collaboration with the Malcomune band.
In the last period of the year, an intense work begins for the last EP of Dante’s Divine Comedy and the filing of the “NewAir” logo is made official at the Rome Chamber of Commerce, becoming a Registered Trademark.
“Eden” [2020]
In January 2020 NewAir opens the NewAir Studio, where it begins to collaborate with various artists of the Roman scene. He starts to work in the rap collective LaPROD. and with them hewrites and produces the song “Cinecittà” featured on the album “Storia” released in February.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, NewAir concludes the processing of its third EP about the Divine Comedy: “Eden”. In May 2020, the new single “Polaris” is released, and it will reach more than 70,000 plays on Spotify by the end of the year.
With a sound closer to Alternative Dance and Synthpop, NewAir confirms its versatility and broad ability to create crossovers between various musical genres.
In the same month, New Air is interviewed on the university radio Radio Luiss, on Ciadd News Radio and on Radio Very Real Caos.
For what concerns the magazines and webzines that reviewed his work, we have the one on the famous Rattler Magazine and the interview with the Italian webzine La Disillusione, in which NewAir describes the complexity of Dante’s entire journey.
In June, the whole EP “Eden” is released through the management of LaPROD.
In the same period the project will receive important and positive reviews from various webzines such as Rockit, Index Music, Traks, Danger of Music and System Failure.
In the meantime, NewAir is interviewed on the radio for electronic music Alchemy Web Radio, while the single Polaris is announced on Radio Rock 106.6 and is permanently on RCS, an Italian radio from Milan.
Internationally, the EP is listened in various countries in the world, both in radio and in streaming platforms; in fact, it manages to be broadcast on EastWave Radio 92.2 FM in South Africa.
During the summer, NewAir works on the productions of the Novecento and on his parallel project To Noir Avenue with whom he will release an EP called “Ashes“. With this latest work, he will also begin to enter the field of soundtracks for films and TV series.
In September 2020, NewAir starts a collaboration with the Roman artist SVD; in fact, he will participate in the writing and production of his first single “Pvnk(A)” and the EP “Parentesi“, mixed and mastered at the Quadraro Basement, a famous recording studio in Rome.
Moreover, with one song of this EP “Pezzo Blues“, New Air manages to enter three editorial playlists on Spotify: New Music Friday, Indie Triste and Scuola Indie.
“Born” [2021]
At the beginning of 2021, NewAir collaborates in the creation of soundtracks for short films; the first product is “I’m Back” and it was sent to various festivals and got a lot of very good feedbacks.
The second short film is produced in June and is about a theme very close to NewAir: The Divine Comedy. In fact, the title of the short film is “Alagheriis“and it is presented at TheAct.
At the record level, NewAir begins to work on a new single “Born“, which will be produced in November of the same year. In fact, in the song you can find Rap, Trap, Rock and Indie influences, combined with the classic bases of NewAir plus Pop and Electronic Music, more specifically Synthpop and Dance Pop. During the summer, the video clip for “Born” was also shot, written, and directed by Edoardo Vivenzio and under the direction of photography by Davide Giarletti.
The song gets, in a few months, almost 120 thousand plays on streaming platforms, managing to enter various and important playlists. “Born” is reviewed also by various foreign and Italian webzines such as Actumusic France, Tinnitist, Rockit, Crisi Magazine, Hey Jude, Siloud, Jukebox 800 and others and it obtained always positive feedbacks.
The Videoclip is broadcast on Italian televisions, such as Rete Oro, and abroad in the USA and Argentina. There are also various radios in Italy and abroad that broadcasted the single, allowing the song to obtain significant results and at the same time NewAir does a lot of interviews in which he talks about it.
It is also important the close collaboration with Telesia, which allowed the music video to be broadcast on all metro and buses in Milan, Rome, Brescia, and Genoa, without excluding the most important airports in Italy.
“Music and Experience and Reborn I” [2022]
In April 2022, NewAir released a new single on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the project; “Music and Experience” is a reproduction of the first single released in 2012, with more Electronic sounds combined with Classical and New Age.
“Music and Experience” received a lot of positive feedback, especially from Webzines such as Rockit and Indiemovradio, where the ability to unite even different fields is underlined. The song was broadcasted on Radio FMR.
In this period, the video clip which was born participated in the Cannes Festival; the video managed to reach the final and took fifth place among all the video clips selected by the Jury.
At the end of July 2022, the third single “Reborn I” was released and reached over 100,000 views on Spotify platform by the end of the year. The song was a mix of Electronics, House, and Deep-House; various playlist curators defined it as a suitable piece for live rave and dark.
It was broadcast on many foreign radios such as Radio 3S and SLE Radio, also it has been broadcast on Italian Radios such as Radio Derbi Web and Radio Libera Tutti over and over.
Also, in this case, there were various positive judgments regarding the song, thanks to different reviews written by Primo Ascolto, Whatmusic, Gruppi Emergenti, and Switch On.
In October the EP “Reborn I (Remixes)” will also be released, containing various remixes made by several DJs. In addition to the video clip made by Asia Bertello and Lidia Rugiero; the latter, like Born previously, will be broadcast on various Italian and non-Italian television channels.
During the year, NewAir collaborates once again with the director and actor Edoardo Vivenzio; four short films entitled “Nota Bene“, “Do You Know Me?“, “Morso di Immortalità” and “Casa Mezzokilo” will be released.
NewAir will produce some artists in its studio in Rome, including Wasabi with the EP “Verde“, Zero Sei with the song “Spine“, Clara with “Età“, Duarte with the song “Buio” and Luxi with “Follia“; once again we note the artistic openness of the producer, who works on similar and non-neighboring genres such as Indie, Rap, Rock and the Italian genres.
“New Life and Seven” [2023]
In February 2023, NewAir released a new single titled “New Life”;’ Switch On magazine published a review of the track. Other webzines such as Diffusioni Musicali, Crisi Mag, Sounds Good Webzine, Tinnitist, Foxy Lady Ascolta, and Actu Music France reviewed the track in the coming weeks.
Given its influences on Electronic, Electro, and Indie Music, the song entered various national and international playlists, with important passages on various radio channels such as Chic Radio Hits, Next Steps Radio, Indiefussione, and Scanner FM.
In the coming year, NewAir works on various productions, such as the EP “Verde” and the single “Purple Beach” by Wasabi, “La mia Libertà” by Mirko Valeri (cover by the singer-songwriter Franco Califano), while the song “Born” is used as a soundtrack in the short film “Caterina Fra i Medici“.
NewAir will also make two remixes: one of the songs “Cenere” by Wasabi and another titled “The Black Atmosphere“, an original track by Gawtarks.
In November NewAir will release a new album “Seven” with “Fulcro Lucem” and through the distribution of Artist First. The genre is based on Electronic Music as always; however, notable influences are starting from Synthpop and ElectroPop, then passing through DancePop, Deep House, and Alternative.
With the press office “Storie nel Mondo” the album is reviewed by the newspaper Espresso, and subsequently also by Cromosomi, Rockit, and Art Live & Sound.
NewAir, at the end of the year, is going to have interviews on Radio Kaos Italy and Radio Cusano.
Seven, also, enters numerous playlists, including the editorial playlist of Spotify Hit Italiane, Radio Zeta Future Hits, and Nuove Uscite Italiane 2023.
“Bootleg Series Vol.1” [2024]
In 2024, on April 1st, NewAir released some remixes for the first time in a collection called “Bootleg Series Vol.1”: inside, tracks by Madonna, Lana del Rey, Halsey, Chvrches, and Enter Shikari were remixed. The artist also decided to use some cassettes as business cards and place them in some parts of Rome.
Starting from May, NewAir returned live: he performed at Spaghetti Unplugged, then at San Raimondo, and finally at the University of Tor Vergata.
At the end of August, he was invited to participate in CousCous Unplugged, where he performed as the opening act for the event.
In October, a new remix was released, this time by the artist Liberato; the track joined the Bootleg Series Vol.1. In the same month, he performed at the Tevere Art Gallery for the event organized by Marte Live, ALTRNTV, and St’Art.
In November, NewAir flew to Toronto to participate in the Widescreen Film Festival with the video clip of the song “Born“; the song will be awarded as the best in the Music Video section.
