On March 6th New Air performed at the Caffe Freud, in Rome, in collaboration with Leandro Cioni and the beginner writer Daniele Schiavoni, renown mostly for his humorous science fiction, but who is also capable of approaching more “serious” thematics (here you can read his book: Operette Immorali, Divinità e altri racconti). The two, already accustomed to integrated art and collaborations with other artists, for example with the painter Dario Falasca, have ventured in the – very successful – attempt to give a musical interpretation to the text “L’Uomo Continuo” the result of a recurring nightmare of Daniele Schiavoni. The story is about a man without memory that is located in a maze, and continues to die and resurrect with no apparent explanation.
Particular credit has to be given to the two musicians, who, thanks to their eclectic skills in improvisation have managed to recreate perfectly the sense of anxiety that is felt by the anonymous protagonist of the story. Forty-minutes that were at the same time interesting, frightening and exciting, and an event that all of us would like to watch again. Another note of credit goes to the “Dubstep Cat” musical piece by Skifcha, that was chosen as the symbol of the event. The deep jarring that it creates with the text and the music only heightens the sense of dispersion and bewilderment that already Gabriele and Andrea managed to create.
Next month New Air will participate in an interview by Music Station.
